HIV and flu vaccine strategy

You can think that the influenza It's just a very aggressive cold, but the reality is that it has the potential to be deadly.

Every year more than 250 thousand people die around the world due to seasonal flu according to data from the World Health Organization. The problem with the preparation of vaccines for this disease is that the virus mutates at times and does so in a way that it would look like a new virus. It is at this moment when the danger of a pandemic could arise.

Seth Berkley, is the president and founder of International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (International AIDS Vaccination Initiative), a physician specializing in the epidemiology of infectious diseases and international health, discusses at TED conferences how vaccines have been created throughout history and explains why some types of vaccines do not work for infections like the AIDS or the flu.

The most important question he considers is how can we make sure that our body produces exactly the antibodies What do we need to protect ourselves from influenza and HIV?
