High levels of child abuse in Mexico

The United Nations Organization has located Mexico among the most violent nations in the world. On the other hand, Juan Antonio Vega, human rights advisor of World Vision Mexico, indicates that currently in our country different forms of abuse and mistreatment towards minors are recognized such as: negligence, physical abuse, abandonment, psychological abuse , sexual abuse, commercial sexual exploitation , labor exploitation , forced marriage and economic abuse.

Child abuse affects not only the overall development of a child, but also damages self-esteem, causes feelings of loneliness, sadness, anxiety and guilt, and favors the learning of violence against children.
 

The worst part is, however, girls. Home and school are the main spaces where they become victims of abuse and abuse.

At home, girls are forced to complete a double or triple day, in addition to being vulnerable to sexual abuse by relatives; while at school, especially in rural areas, girls are frequently victims of mistreatment by their teachers.

Sometimes, the specialist points out, with the consent of relatives, the girls have to stay longer in school to perform some favor or personal attention.

Data offered by UNICEF estimate that in Latin America no less than 6 million children and adolescents are subjected to severe aggression and 80,000 die each year due to violence that occurs within the family.
