Free equine therapy for children with disabilities in Ecatepec

A group of 12 children and adolescents with various disabilities, is the first to receive free equinoterapias with Freddy, Miller, Languages Y Children, four "retired" horses of the Mounted Police of Ecatepec, which will now help to stimulate the neurological system of children in the Equine Therapy Center installed in the Bicentennial Didactic Farm.

Going to this center will represent for the families savings of between 400 and up to 1000 pesos per session, which can be charged in other places where this therapy is offered.

In a session of 45 minutes, the horse transmits from 1,800 to 2 thousand 250 tonic stimuli, which will be beneficial for minors with conditions such as Down syndrome, autism, brain damage, physical deficit and even with problems of social adaptation.

The municipal president, Eruviel Ávila Villegas, explained that the sessions will be given by therapists trained in the Mexican Association of Therapeutic Riding, located in Monterrey, Nuevo León.

He explained that each patient will take a module of 10 sessions, which serve to relax the nerves of the patients, as well as to stimulate their five senses, maintain balance, relax and accelerate understanding.

"This type of therapy, besides being healing, is sporty and fun; the temperature of the horse helps the relaxation of the muscles, in this way the pain is inhibited and at the time of physical therapies, "said the mayor.

 

Registrations and reports

So that a child or adolescent with a disability can register this activity must go to the Center for Rehabilitation and Social Integration (CRIS) of San Agustín or the Macro-Plaza Chiconautlán 3000, located in Ciudad Cuauhtémoc, where they will be diagnosed by a doctor in charge of evaluating the patient to start this rehabilitation.
