Does technology make discretion difficult?

Keeping a secret seems to be one of the most complicated moral dilemmas for a person, especially for women, since the trust placed in them by the sender puts them in a real predicament: do I tell or do not tell?

Although the trust placed in a person when asking him to know how to keep a secret must be considered as a privilege and a way of honoring a friendship, it is an apparently irresistible subject with an expiration date:

In this regard, a survey conducted in the United Kingdom by Wines of Chile, directed by Michael Cox, reveals that more than 3,000 women, between 18 and 65 years, declared not being able to keep a secret for more than 2 days. In fact, the maximum time they could hold it was 47 hours and 15 minutes.

Also, the survey shows that each woman hears about three secrets after a week, giving them to know a person of great confidence, which turn out to be, according to the case, their mother, partner or another friend.

According to the content of the secret, at least a third of the respondents showed some regret for not knowing how to keep the secret, since they consider that they directly affect who entrusted them. The same said that he actually told it only for the pleasure of being somewhat "communicative" and did not show any kind of regret. While others said that they told it only because they did not know the person who revealed the secret to them.

Does technology make discretion difficult?

New technologies and social networks , ideal to spread information to many people in just a few clicks, have apparently made it almost impossible for most women, unable to keep a secret.

An example of this is an investigation carried out by the University of Manchester , which indicates that average time they can keep the information for themselves is 32 minutes and 45 seconds, each time it was revealed by some electronic means, Internet or social network .

In this regard, of the participants of the study, 85% declare that they enjoy revealing "a good gossip", while the rest did care about keeping the secret. And you, have you ever revealed a secret from a friend or family member?
