This cancer begins in the sexual gonads that are the ovaries and annually affects four thousand 200 women; 60% of which could die from this disease since without symptoms many times they are confused with gastritis or colitis, as indicated by the expert Dolores Gallardo of the National Institute of Cancerology.

In most cases ovarian cancer is diagnosed in advanced stages; since it does not have a specific symptomatology. To avoid this, Dr. Gallardo offers you the following symptoms:

1. Pain or discomfort in the lateral part of the belly

2. Sensation of wanting to go to the bathroom, even when it is already evacuated.

3. Discomfort in the lower part of the pelvis.

4. Discomfort to urinate, since the cyst can oppress the bladder.

In addition, there are factors that influence or increase the chances that a woman suffers from ovarian cancer: never having had a pregnancy, premature menopause or lack of use of contraceptive methods (hormones) and endometriosis.

The most important thing in ovarian cancer is that women have in mind that the main objective is to live, says Gallardo. To achieve this there are several options: chemotherapy, surgery, therapies that inhibit the growth of blood vessels and above all, know how to recognize symptoms early.

As a tip, the expert points out that just as you give yourself a mammogram or pap smear (non-diagnostic ovarian cancer), you should have a vaginal ultrasound. Remember, your health is in your hands.
