DHA increases mental abilities

DHA is a fatty acid from the family of omega-3s found throughout the body, it is a structural fat important for proper functioning of the brain, boosts mental abilities, vision and is a key component of the heart .

In this sense, according to the Dr. Rodrigo Valenzuela, Nutritionist Researcher of the School of Nutrition and Dietetics of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Chile , DHA is vital to develop good mental skills because it is associated with better performance in reading and short-term memory, as well as better behavior and fewer problems of sleep and anxiety in children.

With the regular intake of DHA can explain the significant improvement in mental processes, because approximately 97% of total omega-3 fatty acids in the brain are DHA and this alone represents 10% of the dry weight of the brain, explains the specialist.

As such, DHA is important for the development of the abilities of minors throughout their lives, so, according to Cecilia García, Executive Director of ILSI Mexico , it is essential to include omega-3 DHA in children's diet.

According to the nutrition specialist, omega-3 DHA is naturally only achieved by eating fatty or blue fish, such as salmon, tuna, herring or sardines and the algae from which these fish feed .

Because the consumption of fish and DHA is very low in the diet of a Mexican child, only 50 gr. from 160 to 200 gr. recommended, can be consumed in products added with this beneficial fatty acid.

Such is the case of life'sDHA products, such as the Nutrioli oil, the tuna from the Nutriatún brand, as well as in the form of food supplements such as Moviment, Gnt Val and beverages such as Be OK that can be found in nutrition stores specialized

But also, recommends the specialist, it is important to ensure that the consumption of fish per year is around 8 kg. (2 servings per week), include seeds in the feed (small fists), and use different oils to cook and season foods, which will allow children to develop better mental skills and prevent various diseases.
