Dangerous beauty!

Lipstick and lip gloss may offer more than color, according to a study by the University of California , this type of products can contain lead, chromium and aluminum.

 

This report is not the first one that focuses on the toxins in lipsticks. In 2007, Campaign for Safe Cosmetics evaluated 33 lip products, and found that 61 percent contained lead, some with sufficiently high levels.

The researchers calculated the risk based on the concentration of metals detected and the potential daily intake of users, whether average or high.

High use was defined as the intake of 87 milligrams of the product per day. The average use was about 24 milligrams per day.

With normal use, researchers do not think it's problematic, but they do worry about children who play with mom's makeup and may be exposed to toxic levels of lead or other metals.

Between 67 and 100 percent of the products were contaminated with bacteria such as E. coli and salmonella.
