More than 1,200 people will be part of the medical team for the Pan American Games Guadalajara 2011 , to achieve it, there will be a Polyclinic that will attend the athletes and work team 24 hours a day.

At a press conference, the doctor Eloy Marques , director of medical services and doping control of the Organizing Committee of the Pan American Games (COPAG), said that it will have the medical emergency service, trauma, dental and physical stabilization area.

In this regard, it was officially announced that the company Carestream Health will be the provider that will equip the radiology and image area of ​​the Polyclinic with state-of-the-art technology:

"We will be in communication with prestigious institutions of several Latin American countries, so that the doctors of the countries of the athletes are the ones who interpret their studies, in case that is required," said Marques Cisneros.

On the other hand, Carlos Andrade Garín , general director of COPAG , said the goal is to provide the participants of the 2011 Guadalajara Pan American Games with the latest in health technology, to detect and / or treat injuries in time and avoid severe damage to your body.

COPAG managers assured that all preventive measures in the health area are ready to avoid any outbreak of infection and have control to avoid cases of doping :

"There are more than 300 people who will be in the Doping Control. There will be 1,500 urine samples and 250 blood samples. These will be done, before, during and after the competition. While in the case of epidemiology, there are several surveillance systems that are coordinated with the Health Secretariat of Guadalajara, "said Marques Cisneros.

The XVI Pan American Games of Guadalajara 2011 , will take place from October 14 to 30 and will be the third time that Mexico organizes these competitions. The two previous editions were held in Mexico City.


It is estimated that the ceremony of lighting the Pan American Fire it will be on August 26 in the archaeological zone of Teotihuacán. From there, he will travel through different cities until arriving in Guadalajara on October 14.
