Chronic colitis, risk of colon cancer

When a complication prevails, patients may be candidates for surgery, said the gastroenterologist, who warned that in the long term (sick people with more than 10 years of evolution), they are more predisposed to develop colon cancer.
 

Symptoms of colitis

According to Paz Flores, the symptomatology is varied and gradual. Commonly diarrhea, rectal bleeding (elimination of mucus from the rectum), tenesmus (urge to defecate) and abdominal pain .

In the most intense cases, fever and weight loss may predominate. They can also suffer from people over 70 years.

The health expert recommends being aware of some symptoms such as diarrhea with mucus and blood; be alert if there is a family history of ulcerative colitis, do not self-medicate, avoid consumption of irritants and go to your doctor.
 
The doctor Paz Flores explained that within inflammatory bowel disease there are two types of conditions: chronic ulcerative colitis non-specific disease and the so-called Crohn .
