Cerati celebrates one year in a coma

May 15, 2011 was fulfilled one year of the comatose state in which the singer and author remain Gustavo Cerati .

A few days after the one year anniversary of Gustavo's vascular brain injury, we want to share with you information about the state in which you are and thank all the medical institutions and their professionals for the attention provided .

We know of the many demonstrations of affection and recognition that daily, followers and colleagues of Gustavo made in our country and around the world, and especially those that will be organized these days.

We appreciate the warmth, the support and the respect with which he and his work are treated, in addition to the constant support we receive. It's comforting and it gives us encouragement.

The patient Gustavo Adrián Cerati continues to be interned in the Alcla Clinic being clinically stable, unchanged neurological , with adequate nutritional parameters and without acute intercurrences, persisting with mechanical ventilation and maintaining a plan of progressive disengagement from the respirator. What would happen if Gustavo woke up today?

This question was raised by the writing of the page Terra Entertainment of Peru and some basic questions are answered in an interview made to the specialist Dr. Carlos Romero , neuro intensivist of the Clinical Hospital of the University of Chile.

"We must also take into account that when there is damage by accident, that is trauma, the behavior may be different and as in the case of Mr. Cerati it is a heart attack , there are extensive areas in the brain that will never work again.

"But, chances of waking up - and going back to how it was before - there are not and, without a doubt, it will have severe consequences," the specialist told Terra Entertainment Peru.
