Causes of stress in Latin America

Unlike living conditions in Europe and other countries such as the United States, people in Latin America are subject to factors and causes of stress characteristics of the region, which decreases their quality of life and opportunities for development.

According to researchers from the Wake Forest University School of Medicine, North Carolina , the living conditions of the people of Latin America, such as the pressures and lack of balance due to family and work demands, are part of a climate of stress whose causes can be identified as belonging to underdeveloped countries.

 

Causes of stress in Latin America

1. Lack of balance The conflicts between work and family occur when the demands and responsibilities of one and the other are, in some sense, incompatible, and can occur in both directions.

2. Natural disasters. The depression , sleep disorders, sudden changes in mood and anxiety They are common symptoms in people who have experienced a natural disaster.

3. Pollution . Exposure to pollutants, such as breathing smog and particles emitted by cars, favors intoxication disorders that will generate stress and irritability, as well as low efficiency in cognitive processes and psychomotor processes.

4. Illegality. The tension with which people who are in a state of illegality in another country live, such as the United States, is one of the largest causes of stress among the Latin American community.

5. Violence . The perception of citizens of the high level of corruption and the high rate of violence , linked to the guerrilla and drug trafficking, generates high levels of tension translated into higher levels of stress .

6. Economy . The economic, financial instability, materialized in dismissals, low salaries, etc., triggers pictures of stress, even more so when the social climate of the countries is subject to or depends on other powers.

7. Work stress . Due to the lack of favorable working conditions in Latin American countries, as well as the overload of work, unjustified dismissals, and even the same labor bullying (mobbing) , more tables of stress and depression among workers.

According to a Bloomberg study in several Latin American countries, in addition to the previous ones, gender and intrafamily violence, lack of opportunities and personal and professional development are some other causes of stress characteristics of the region.
