Agreement for the revision of matographs

With the purpose of guaranteeing quality standards in the technical performance of mammography studies performed by women, the Institute of Women of the Federal District (Inmujeres-DF) and the Physics Institute of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), signed a coordination and collaboration agreement.

The mammographers that are used in the institutes that provide their services for the Inmujeres DF, will be reviewed and evaluated by highly qualified personnel to detect any anomaly in them, it was informed in a statement, according to information published by the news agency CIMAC.

A mastógrafo is a machine that projects, by means of X-rays, if there is any type of lesion in the breasts of the women that is studied. Several plates are taken from different angles that will later be interpreted by a radiologist. This allows us to rule out risk factors such as tumors.

The examination by means of the tact, realized by a specialized doctor, manages to detect anomalies in the sines when these already have considerably greater size, approximately with diameter of a centimeter. While the mastgrapher can clearly detect strange formations the size of a grain of sand, detection that is practically impossible to do with just the touch.
