90% of money in North America has traces of cocaine

A study of 30 large cities in 5 countries found that 90% of Canadian and US banknotes contain small traces of cocaine. It is followed by Brazil with 80%, China and Japan.

Yueganga Zuo, leader of the investigation, speculates that the high levels of cocaine residues found are due to the increase in the use of the drug, an industry estimated at 70 billion dollars a year for the United States.

The Scientific American magazine says that $ 20 bills are the most used to roll and sniff the "lines" of cocaine, where it is absorbed by the nasal membranes into the bloodstream, instantly affecting the brain. Cocaine is a stimulant that acts directly on the central nervous system causing euphoria.

Mexico, cocaine and corruption

More than half a million Mexicans are addicted to some drug, with marijuana being the most consumed, and cocaine occupying the second place.

The BBC considers that 90% of the cocaine that enters the United States comes from Mexico, and according to the last report of the legislators in our country, there are about 23 thousand deaths in violence related to the war waged against the drug cartels by President Felipe Calderón.

In 2009 alone, a red balance of nearly 10 thousand victims was obtained. The government insists on attributing the deaths to the success of its strategic measures against the narco, however, recent publications such as the interview to "El Mayo Zambada" in number 1744 of the magazine Proceso indicate that the problem has not diminished, nor plans to do so . One of the most remarkable comments of the interview is the answer to the question "Why is a war lost?", Where Zambada answered: "The drug is in society, rooted as corruption."
