Insulin resistance, as the specialist says, not only increases the risk of suffering diabetes, but also from other chronic degenerative diseases . Therefore, we present some tips that will help you reduce it, if you already have it, or to avoid its appearance:

1. Exercise. One of the best ways to increase insulin sensitivity is to exercise. Choose an activity, preferably aerobic and practice it regularly.

2. Eat less saturated fat. Diets rich in saturated fats increase the risk of glucose intolerance, increase fasting blood glucose and blood insulin levels. It prefers non-fat products, lean or with low fat content to avoid excesses.

3. Eat more unsaturated fats. This type of fat increases insulin sensitivity, reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes . For this, remember to include in your diet fish, nuts such as nuts, almonds, seeds and oils of good quality, such as olive.

4. Dietary fiber . Fiber has the same beneficial effects of unsaturated fats. Vegetables, fruits, legumes and whole grains can not miss your usual diet.

5. Reduce abdominal fat. Approximately 80% of people with obesity suffer from insulin resistance, so losing weight improves the sensitivity of your tissues to this hormone.

Insulin resistance is a condition that you can develop at any time, but it can also be reversible. To avoid having it or to reverse it, the key is to consider a change of eating habits and a better quality of life.
