5 tips vs allergies of the eyes

How many times have you felt itching, tearing, irritation or burning eyes? Sometimes external factors such as dust, environmental pollution and the earth can generate allergies of the eyes, which are the culprits of all these symptoms.

Allergies of the eyes are the most common pathologies that occur at any age, but especially among children and adolescents, says the doctor José Luis Merino Saldaña, member of the Mexican Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology.

Merino Saldaña notes that also known as allergic conjunctivitis is an inflammatory reaction that occurs on the surface of the eye as a result of exposure to different substances known as allergens and found in the environment.

However, exposure to sunlight can exacerbate eye allergies, as well as dust mites that cohabit with us in our bed or on pillows.

The attacks of allergies of the eyes can be uncomfortable for people, so it is important to know the following measures to prevent their appearance:

  1. Lubricating drops . They are totally innocuous, that is, they do not generate any problem, because their function is to refresh and moisturize the surface of the eye. If there were any allergenic substance in it, it would be eliminated.
  2. Lenses of photosensitive technology. The ultraviolet radiation of the sun can trigger attacks of acute ocular allergy, so when using this type of articles these discomforts are reduced by a very high percentage.
  3. Change bedding. The dust mites that nest in this type of garments generate allergies in the eyes, that is why it is very important to constantly change sheets, blankets and covers. Also, try to change your pillows regularly or choose those that are made with synthetic materials.
  4. Wash your hands. According to American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (ACAAI), avoid rubbing your eyes with dirty hands, so keep a proper hygiene, especially when you get home.
  5. Limit the space of pets . If you have a pet keep it from entering your bedroom. The hair of these is a further trigger of eye allergies.

The ACAAI It states that in case the drops and oral medications do not reduce the symptoms, you should resort to immunotherapy, which consists of injecting small doses of the allergen into your body to create resistance to it. And you, have you suffered from allergies of the eyes?
