Are you itchy, burning, and watery? You may be experiencing the symptoms of spring conjunctivitis, which occurs most often during the spring and summer.

According to specialists from Mexican Social Security Institute in Zacatecas , this inflammation of the outer lining of the eyes occurs between five and 10% of the population and the most common cause is an allergic reaction.

In an interview for GetQoralHealth, the ophthalmologist Arturo Castillejas it explains what it consists of, as well as its main causes:

The easiest way to detect it is with a visual examination where you can detect symptoms of spring conjunctivitis such as: burning eyes, photophobia, eye inflammation and watery eyes.

To reduce the discomfort caused by spring conjunctivitis, the National Institutes of Health in the United States (INH) recommend:

 

  1. Do not rub your eyes
  2. Place cold compresses over the eyes
  3. Apply lubricating drops
  4. Use anti-inflammatories prescribed by the doctor
  5. Avoid exposure to the factors that trigger the allergy

Remember that to maintain good visual health you should go with your doctor before any discomfort you have and avoid self-medication, as it can worsen or complicate any disease.
