5 gay celebrities who have declared it

The new autobiographical book of Ricky Martin titled "I", is published by the publisher Random House Mondadori, presents an intimate biography about the spiritual path that turned the pop singer into an icon of world popular culture. At 38 years of age plasma in his memories from his childhood to the deep fear he felt to confess his homosexuality.

We present you with 4 other artists who have confessed his homosexuality through time, not before having gone through a difficult process of acceptance and reconciliation with their sexual orientation before society and towards themselves:

1.- Freddie Mercury: Composer and leader of the British band Queen. On October 8, 1991, Mercury made its final presentation to the public and announced that it suffered from AIDS. On November 24 of the same year he died at his home in London of a complication of pneumonia caused by the acquired immunodeficiency virus . He openly declared himself bisexual due to his intimate relationship with Mary Austin, although he maintained romantic relationships with men for the rest of his life.

2. Elton John: The British singer and author admits with sincerity to belong to the homosexual community and it was in the year of 1976 when he declared publicly to be gay

3. George Michael : He announced his homosexuality after a big scandal that led him to declare himself gay before the press, in an interview in 2007 he admitted that he was gay and had hidden it because of the possible effect it would have on the opinion of his mother.

4. Tiziano Ferro: The Italian singer declared in 2010 his homosexuality before the international press and pointed out that he did it to remove the internal pressures that he was carrying. He said he felt homosexual from the adolescence but that hidden by the appearances that his career demanded.

The World Health Organization has removed homosexuality from the list of diseases and is currently campaigns against homophobia in several countries of the world. As well as The North American Association of Psychiatry (APA) has made a statement against corrective therapies, which are those therapies that were used believing that homosexuality could be "repaired" or "corrected."
