10 tips to load a school backpack

According to the doctor Avelino Ferrero, president of the Rehabilitation Service of the Ramón y Cajal Hospital, in Madrid (Spain), the weight of the school backpack produces traction and pressure on the musculature and the joints of children, which can generate some injuries .

Therefore, it is important that parents take some precautions to facilitate the transportation of school supplies, such as the following:

1.- Use comfortable backpacks : Must have wide straps and padded backrest.

2.- Adjust it : Try to keep it five centimeters above the waist

3.- Distribute the weight : Load it with the two straps and never by one, to avoid damage to the shoulders.

4.- Exercise : Practice a sport that strengthens the muscles of the back.

5.- Organize the backpack : Place the heaviest books near and attached to the back.

6.- Drag weight : Use backpacks with wheels, but do not pull too hard; alternate arms.

7. Keep the spine straight : Good posture prevents injuries , muscle aches and tears.

8. Distribute : In the case that there is a lot of material, take a part in your hands.

9.- Limit and avoid transporting useless loads : If the backpack is too heavy, the child is forced to arch forward the spine or to bend forward the head.

10.- Use both hands to load the backpack : Bend your knees and lean to lift it.

It is important that you control the time you use to load the backpack, because you should not spend 15 minutes. It is also essential to talk with the teachers to avoid the useless transport of the articles.
