At least 8 out of 10 Mexican adults suffer Back pain at some point in their lives, according to the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) .

Although there are ailments that detonate it, according to the new study of the Summa Health System in Akron , Ohio, back pain is more common among 16.5% of people who smoke, 15% of those who are alcoholics, 17% of those who suffer obesity and 19% of those who suffer from depression.

Scott Shemory , principal author of the research and orthopedic surgeon of the Institution, explains why it happens.

 

1. Obesity

Excessive weight puts stress on all joints and the back, causing it to strain too much and generate pain . The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) indicates that overweight adds pressure to lumbar discs and over time severe injuries.
