1. Ideology

Most of the Employers , nor society, are not prepared mentally to deal with a person with a disability. They think that if they can not move properly then they will not be productive and therefore profitable for their companies.

 

2. Infrastructure

There are few buildings, streets and areas that are adequate for a person with disabilities to be able to mobilize without inconveniences. This causes that the individual does not want to leave his house, and that the employers dare to run the risk of contract if they do not have the conditions.

 

3. Little self-assessment

One of the most common consequences in people after an accident and suffering some type of disability is distrust of themselves If they are the first to value their capabilities , they will never go out to look for a job and they will not be competent to transmit them.

 

4. No training

Unfortunately very few People with disabilities they have the tools, as is a Wheelchair , that allow them to integrate into the labor field; Those who own them do not know how to use them properly and do not go to places where they are taught to be independent.

 

A disability is not an impediment

Are the People with disabilities those who have to prove that they are completely capable of developing a work , that the desire that they have to do it can lead them to be more efficient, trained and mentally prepared to give results.

 

If such a person goes to the company and demonstrates all that, the employer will hire it. And in addition, he will put it as an example: he arrives earlier, produces more and avoids all the obstacles to fulfill, "says Velázquez.

The Business should undoubtedly think about strategies that include People with disabilities to the labor field, but it is the disabled who from their "trench" have to demonstrate that they deserve it and that it is their right to have a job , worthy and with a good pay.

According to National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) , in Mexico live 5.5 million people with some disability ; nevertheless, Santiago Velázquez assures that the most real and updated figure exceeds six million.
